Small Task Cost Calculator
Use this calculator to turn a clearly scoped one-off task into a transparent starting budget. It uses your expected effort, an hourly value, direct expenses and a contingency percentage; it does not claim to know the “correct” market rate for every skill or location.
Estimate the funded budget
Suggested starting budget: 33.00 USDT
What the formula is doing
Base effort = estimated hours × hourly value. Then direct expenses are added. A contingency is applied to the subtotal so small scope surprises do not automatically turn a funded task into an underfunded task.
This is deliberately transparent. The calculator does not infer skill scarcity, urgency, geographic wage differences, taxes, platform fees or negotiated premiums. Those belong in the task description or the final agreement.
Make the number useful
- Write the exact outcome before deciding the budget.
- State what counts as proof, so effort is tied to a verifiable finish line.
- Separate reimbursable expenses from the worker’s compensation.
- Use the calculated figure as a starting point, then adjust for complexity and urgency.
Next step: Once the outcome, proof, deadline and payout are clear, post and fund the task. Read the small-task hiring guide first when the scope is still fuzzy.
