Freelance Without Proposals: Claim Funded Tasks

A no-proposal work model removes the application step from eligible one-off tasks. Instead of writing a cover letter and competing on a bid, a doer finds a funded task, claims it when eligible, completes the defined outcome and submits proof. Nothing.gripe uses this funded-claim model for its core marketplace flow.

Why proposals create a separate kind of work

On proposal-based marketplaces, the provider normally responds to a job, sets a price or submits a proposal, answers screening questions or provides work samples, and waits for a client to choose. Upwork’s current proposal guide documents rate/bid details, cover letters and screening questions as part of submitting a proposal.

This is not “no work”

Removing proposals does not remove skill requirements. A doer still needs to read the task carefully, satisfy eligibility, complete the work and produce valid proof. The model mainly removes the time spent competing for work before execution begins.

How this differs from Fiverr

Fiverr’s client-facing workflow is centered on browsing freelancer profiles, Gigs and packages before hiring. See Fiverr’s current client guide. Nothing.gripe instead centers the task itself.

Best fit: clearly scoped one-off work where “what needs to be done” can be specified before the doer starts.

Frequently asked questions

How does freelance work without proposals work?

Instead of writing a proposal for every job, eligible doers can claim available funded tasks, complete the stated scope, submit the required proof and wait for verification.

Is this different from bidding on Upwork?

Yes. Nothing.gripe is organized around funded task claiming rather than a proposal contest. The task is funded first, then an eligible doer can claim it while it is available.

How should I define a task so it can be claimed without a proposal?

State the outcome, scope, deadline, payout and proof required to verify completion. A clear acceptance condition reduces ambiguity for both the requester and doer.
